Get to Know UWHEN: Annalisa Purser

Planning Committee members like Annalisa are working behind the scenes to ensure the University of Utah's chapter of UWHEN helps more women find success in their careers in higher education. If you see her around campus, be sure to say hi - and ask how you can get involved in UWHEN!

 

1. How do you prefer to start your day?

I love starting my day early and heading to the gym. Getting off to a good start before the sun rises helps me feel ready to take on the day. 

 

2. What was your first job?

My first job was as a server at a retirement community, but my next job was more interesting. I worked at a factory making Tasty Cakes (if you’ve ever been to the East Coast, you might recognize the brand for its variety of cakes and pastries). I worked in several capacities along the packaging line. It felt like I was exploring an episode of “How It’s Made”—only slower! Eight-hour shifts on an assembly line did not fly by. 

 

3. What is your favorite podcast and why?

I absolutely love “More Perfect” by RadioLab. It explores the stories behind important Supreme Court decisions and it really brings history to life and puts today’s issue in context.
