1. What’s your superpower?
Team Player Hollie! I think I’m really good at working in a team, which is really critical for developing and submitting interdisciplinary research grants. I’m pretty good at reading when it is time for me to play a supportive role and when it is time for me step up. All my years of waiting tables to get through college taught me how to anticipate others’ needs. I can defuse conflict pretty well, and I usually remain quite calm under pressure, both of which are important when you’re always working under hard grant deadlines.
2. What energizes you at work?
When I learn something new or gain insight into a problem or process. I think that is what has drawn me to and kept me in higher education—the continuous learning environment.
3. If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?
Strategic Planning and Change Management. I think if I can develop and excel at this skill/capacity, I will be well positioned for the next step in my professional development.
