Being Present
How often do you make time to stop and be present?
Recently, I went on a yoga/wellness retreat in Southern Utah, and during one of the hikes, the guide asked us to stop, look around, and take in our environment. She went through each of the 5 senses and asked us to pay close attention to what we could see, hear, touch, taste, and smell.
I've been hiking a million times before, but this reminder has made every hike since seem brand new. I've taken to doing this more often - while in my office, walking around campus, even at a busy Target during Back to School season.
It also reminded me of a time when I recently had a similar experience of being present with my daughter while we were on vacation. If you're curious, you can read about it here: https://www.ruchiwatson.com/blog/appreciating-the-little-things
Do you have a fond memory of being present? What was it? How do you make time/space/energy for being present?
